Mbutu Mbaise was in disarray
today, 31st day of May 2016, as a young man [name withheld], was set ablaze after being brutally mobbed by angry youths, to reap what he had sown.
This action was sparked off as
result of retaliation to the despicable murder of husband and wife by the
former, the night preceding [30th May, 2016]. It was gathered that the
burnt young man who hailed from the same village of Umuaku Isiala Mbutu with
the couple murdered the woman in her farm as she was harvesting her cassava. Further
investigations revealed that the woman had gone without her husband to harvest
their farm yield. She met her unimagined doom there in her farm as this
rootless boy who is understood to have received payment to deliver human parts to
unrevealed culprit who is now in the wild.
He had successfully executed
his mission and had taken the required parts, but the longevity of the woman’s stay
had bothered the husband who then dashed out in search of his wife who should
have returned long ago. The man’s arrival had coincided with the hoodlum’s exit
who never anticipated anybody meeting him in the course of his deed. Due to the
disturbing eye sight of the man, he didn’t see clearly what awaited him and was
run through by the slaying machete of the murderer.
We understand that the
barbarian had already delivered his goods to his contractor, who was with him
at the scene before the unlucky man came in.
It was already dark before
family and neighbours noticed the absence of them and went in search of the
couple as such unannounced outing was not associated with them. The unbelievable
was the outcome of the search. This triggered enormous rage among neighbours
who came out in their numbers to join the search for a connection to the abomination.
Soon, a foot of slippers was seen and the owner easily identified. But he was
nowhere to be found.
The next morning [ 31st
May, 2016], he was accosted on his way back. He was there and then queried
about the found slippers whose pair was seen in his house in the course of the
search. He reluctantly conceded to his wickedness, but refused to name his
accomplice, who is believed to be a native of Ngor-Okpala. The raging youth
paraded around the village beating him blue-black in his own pool of blood and
wounds all over him. The police had come to take over the case, but were denied
the opportunity as they unilaterally rejected their involvement, wanting an eye
for an eye. After futile efforts, the men in black gave up as the youth had
outnumbered and overpowered them.
The murderer was then sentenced
to die by burning as a tyre was hung around his neck and fuel poured evenly on him.
He soon tasted the bitter delicacy of death by heavy burn.
The entire community and
village were perplexed at this development and expressed their shock and disbelief
as the ancient kingdom had been of profound peace, serenity and unity until the
dreadful last Monday of the month of May.
This is therefore a lesson to
the youths who do not want to engage themselves meaningfully to wake up from
slumber and get off the bed.
